two prong outlets in home just purchased

is there a reason to change to three prong outlets

The only legal way to do it is by changing them to a GFI outlet.
Still not going to have a ground but then you could plug in a three prong plug.
When you cange them you have to put the sticker that comes with it that says ungrounded.

Reason? No.

Only problem arises when you have a 3 prong plug to plug in.

Those little cheaters that convert 3 prong plug to a 2 prong plug are not the answer.

Only if you are wanting to use Surge protection for your expensive electronics, and wanting proper GFCI circuits in bath, Kitchen, basement, outside, garage, crawl space, etc..
