Two hot wires ( a brown and black) to power a switch


the switch is a dimmer for a light in a bathroom want to put afan on the switch but it has a white and black wire howto do this?

Is it JUST a dimmer, or a dimmer and switch? Part numbers? Pictures?

If it's just a dimmer then you cannot 'dim' a fan. You need a special fan control for that.

Sounds like a switch loop with just a black and white wire in the switch.
Might not be easy, but you'll need to run more wires.

Were you planning on the light and fan coming on together?
