two hidden junction boxes
 

we just opened our ceiling int he living room and found 2 junction boxes with wires running down the walls to my guess is the outlets. do what have to have our living room rewired or can we just leave it the way it is. there are no wire's sticking out of the boxes. it looks nice and clean.

They can not be hidden, they must be able to be accessed. It's fine of the in the attic where they can be reach from the attic.

Is there an attic above? Were the boxes facing up so you could open them from the attic? If there is then you can access those boxes and it is fine.

Junction boxes behind an access panel would also be acceptable.
