Turning OFF light switch causes AM radio interference ?

AM/FM clock radio plugged into wall outlet gets heavy interference on the AM radio band if the light switch in the next room is turned OFF. No inteference when switch is ON. Two different 110v circuits involved. Switch controls a ceiling light/fan combo.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Turning OFF light switch causes AM radio interference ?

sounds like you just seem to be getting better reception when there is power in the wire. I can't tell you what causes this (youd need to talk to a scientist) but i can tell you im 99% sure there isn't any real issue. Perhaps you could label the switch with the word "antenna"

Is the switch lighted? What type of lamps in the fan?

Turning OFF light switch causes AM radio interference ?

Is the switch a dimmer, fan speed control, wireless fan control, lighted switch, or anything else other than just a totally basic plain switch? If so, the culprit is the electronics in the switch. If not, then we'll have to keep hunting...
