Transformer question, need help to pick the right one

I have a transformer that recently went out, and need to be replaced.

The one that I have now:
Input 120v - 60hz .5a
Outpout 12v - 60w max

3x20w max 12v - mr16

I'm looking at this one on ebay. Will this work for what I'm looking for?

May I suggest that you maybe consider going to a larger transformer? Running a transformer at it's max will cause it to run hot. Heat will eventually lead to premature failure. For those 3 bulbs...maybe go with at least 100W?

I did a quick search on Amazon....more options and much better prices....

At the risk of violating the rules.....here is the link

Thanks for the amazon suggestion. Maybe this will last long at 100w vs 60. Otherwise all other specs that It requires, this one will work outside of 100w?

What do you mean by "this one will work outside of 100w"?

If you mean, can you go over? Yea...for a very short time....you should always try to stay under the rated capacity of a transformer....and if cooling is an issue...under even more or upsize.

A note on upsizing.....

Some people think that if "100w is good, 200W is even better". Yea, it's better if you have the need....but it also means that if there is a wiring issue (say you short the output), the spark and potential fire could be greater.

100W for 3 bulbs sounds comfortable.

i'm not seeing the 100w that you guys recommended. Will this work? 105w?

BTW: I'll be using 3x20w bulbs.

The first one on that list is non-dimmable....should work....though looking at the reviews...looks like a couple of them didn't...but then again...Amazon is great about returns. I'm willing to bet the users were trying to use them as dimmable...

This one will also work as dimmable...

Note...these are electronic transformers....they use an ac-dc-ac solid state switching ckt to give you the voltage....not the same as a physical transfomer....

Sorry, I don't understand this statement. I'm using it as a transformer to light my 3 light bulbs at 20w each. I'm just wiring these straight out to a 2prongs wall outlet plug?
