Tips to run cables for video security system
I got a video security system and would like to know the tips to run the cables.
How to install cameras/run the wires outside the house so it's aesthetically pleasing? By using conduit tubes/box?
There'll be around 6 sets of cables from different places of the house to a centralize location, what is a good solution to organize these cables when they get into the house?
Your best bet is to run the wire through the attic, basement/crawlspace, walls, and drop down to where the cameras are. This is how most of the professional installations are.
Or you can run 1/2"-3/4" conduit, but this will look un-appealing on the surface of the house. Even painted, it will be awkward with bulky conduit running all over.
Since the wire is just signal cable, and sometimes a low voltage 12v power cable in one, you can tuck it under the vinyl (if you have vinyl) of the house, and under the eve. Paint it to mach the house, and it will be barely noticeable.
Just make sure it is out of reach from ground level, so animals and thieves don't cut or damage the wire.
