Tips on installing pancake box in brick

I want to install 2 porch lights on the outside of my house. I already installed 1 light, but to make the hole in brick for the pancake box wasn't easy. I made some pilots holes around the outline of the box on the brick, and i chiseled the rest until i made the pancake box recessed in the brick. Took me about 2 hours to make that hole.

My question is. Is their a faster way to make that hole in the brick?

Tips on installing pancake box in brick

I would cut in a regular masonry box. It is almost the size of a brick. Cut the brick to length and then chisel out between the mortar joints. You remove the full depth of the brick. Much easier than chipping out the 1/2" for the pancake.
