I avoid electrical work... the most I've ever done is hardwire chandeliers. That being said, my gut says that this is a really trivial problem.
The tile is very thick, so now, the switch and outlet are about 1" too recessed into the wall now. How does one deal with this? I guess it would require moving the box, becuase the front plate couldn't be moved THAT far forward without running the risk of the wires popping out of the box.
If that's the case, that would require an inspection from the town, and therefore a licensed electrician wouldn't it? (I actually wouldn't be averse to hiring an electrician, becuase the bathroom outlet is not a GFCI... It's still the original outlet from way back when.....)
Or is simply moving a closed box forward not considered technically "moving a box"? If it COULD be a DIY, how should I proceed? (Electrical is the LAST place I want to make a mistake!)
thanks for your help
