I have been told that the 2008 NEC requires "tamper proof electrical outlets for all outlets a certain distance from the floor. Is this accurate and what are the specifics. Can you cite the location with the NEC?

ACCEPTED

Hi XXXXXX;
Tamper proof? Nope.
What they do need to be is hooked to a GFCI circuit. But even that is only required in the bathrooms, kitchen, exterior outlets, any outlet within 6' of a water source, pools, saunas, hot tubs, and the garage outlets.
The bed rooms, living room, family room, hallways, and any other not listed above do not have to be on a GFCI circuit. But most electricians are putting them in GFCI circuits anyway.
As there is not a requirement for tamper proof outlets i can not cite the code for it.
Please be aware that any municipality, state, and even some HOAs can enact regulations that are diffrent from the NEC so long as it does not detract from it. In other words thay can make the requirements stricter or add to them but cant make them any less than what they are.
Please consult your local building code
enforcement office and enquire with them before you act on the information I have provided you today.

If this answer satisfies your question please click the accept button. I will not be paid if you dont. You can always ask follow up questions after you accept. I will be here to answer them. If for some reason you are not happy. Please tell me before you accept.

He looks like a guy you could trust, huh?

I just registered and asked a question. I asked why that answer was still up since it is clearly wrong. Seriously.
I can't wait for the reply!

MAN! That site is a JOKE! They wanted a "good faith" deposit on the expectancy that I will be satisfied with the answer.

With awesome sites like diychatroom.com why in the world would someone pay $9-$30 for an online answer to questions like this.
What I love is that they lock the questions so no one can refute the answers. Crazy.

I was going to do that
But I didn't want to read the disclaimer to find out if they would try to charge me. I'm not even sure what I was searching for when I stumbled across that.

I think if we fed a 5 year old some keywords the 5 year old might come up with a better answer

Ah!! I figured they wanted $$ up front

I didn't click on anything saying I would pay. It just asked for an amount I would pay IF I was satisfied. Then in two different places it asked for that good faith "deposit". Yeah right.

I googled a question about a truck one time and it brought me to that site and said they had ford certified techs standing by to answer my question for something like 10 bucks. I never gave them the deposite and they kept sending me emails wanting me to pay for an answer I never got. That site is huge joke.

Is it wrong that I want to link to this site every time someone asks a question that could be answered with two seconds on Google?

Hmmm? Am I one of those people? What about the Mold trolls?

Any intelligent person who reads their terms would never agree & pay. Basically they are saying they do not guarantee a correct answer. I bet our question about the accuracy about the prior question goes unanswered as they know they will not be paid
