I want to replace my old thermostat by Honeywell RTH2300B but I don't know how to put the wire position. I have 6 colors wire - Red, Yellow, Tan/Brown, Orange, Black & Blue but no white.
As long as you haven't ripped off the old thermostat already just mark the wires as you take them off. They are labeled with letters and it usually are a universal code.
If you have ripped off the old one without marking the wires you may have to go down to the furnace and see how they have hooked it up.
to add to what darren said, dont worry about wire color. pay attention to where the "in use" wires were connected.
