Question

Thermostat Board Wiring

Hello, I'm wondering if someone can help me with a thermostat board I'm trying to build. I have a pic of something similar but it's too big to attach and I can't figure out how to insert into this post, so I'll explain as best I can. I'm thinking of just a household thermostat wired to a 120v plug (to plug an A/C unit into), I'd have them both put in a small wood or metal box of some kind, and then a cord coming out the box to plug it in. I'll be honest, I really have no idea how to do this. But the cheapest thing I could find was about $100, so this way looks cheaper anyway. What I'm wondering is: what gets wired to what, What will I need aside from what you can see in the picture, and if anyone can point in the right right direction (ie: DIY guides, blueprints, or anything really ) it would save me alot of fruitless searching for the answer. Thanks in advance for any help.

If you have 120V in a wooden box, and your house burns down, don't try collecting insurance. Do yourself a favor, buy the commercial unit.
