Question

is there such a thing as fishtape lubing?


my fishtape is getting rusty, seems like, and it's hard to reel it back in. can i lube it or do something else?

WD-40 would be a good idea.

Pull it out and wipe it down with an oily rag.

sure, get a stainless steel tape

just pull it all the way out and use some wd-40 on a rag and thoroughly wipe it down. You might need to take some steel wool to it if the rust is bad.

if you don't use it quite regularly, be sure you unreel it all the way and wipe it down with wd-40 before storing it. You need to remove the dirt (that holds moisture) and water.
