Testing switch

How do I go about testing a switch in my home without getting electrocuted? My blower motet for my fireplace is ran by a switch and the blower is not working.

Turn off breaker. Take switch out and connect two wires together. Turn on breaker. If motor runs switch is bad. If motor doesn't run then motor is bad or wring has loose connection.
You could use an ohm meter to test the switch after removing it.

I will try that. I took the switch out today and noticed it didnt have a ground wire on it. Is that normal?
