Switched outlet

Power supply from switch to outlet to exterior light. Want to at receptacle to be constant, at least split, but keep the exterior light switched. Can this be done without running new wire?

Switched outlet

Need a little bit more info. Does the wiring go the way you explained (switch, to the outlet and out to the light) or are they both fed out of the switch box (you would have 3 cables in the switch box) Is the whole receptacle switched or just 1/2 of it (top or bottom)?

Switched outlet

What cable is between the switch and the receptacle? If it is not a 3 wire+ ground then you can 't do it if the cabling is switch-receptacle- light.

Not likely. You need a 3 wire 1 hot, 1 switch leg and 1 netral.

You probably only have a 2 wire, 1 hot and 1 neutral.

You could install a photo cell at the outlet that would turn the fixture off during the day and just leave the switch on.

You could also make the sw leg hot and install a wireless switch for the light.
