Switch for wall outlet dims lights

Recent change the switch and outlet. Now th outlet dims the lamp when turned off.. The switch has two black. The outlet has one black and two white. A black and white on one side and one white on the other. This was changed by my brother and i did not see th original wiring.

Tell us all the cables in the receptacle box, in the switch box and in the light box. What did the switch control? The light fixture or half the receptacle? If half the receptacle did he remove the tab on the side of the receptacle.

You need to pull out the wires in the receptacle box, The splice is not right.

i would guess the whites on the outlet got switched in the process of changing the outlet.
on the switch it wouldn't matter which wire went where but on the outlet it would. was only half of the outlet switched? if so was the tab on the hot side broken out between the screws?

Would be a dead short if that was the case.
