Working on wiring the detached garage today. Can anyone refresh my memory, does a switch loop for a light on the garage get power from the garage and only switching wires travel back to the house in the conduit?
hard to tell you with that little info. Open one end, light or switch and tell us what you see.
This is all brand new, I ripped everything out. I am going to put a light on the garage that is operated by a switch in the house. So I will be running a switch loop in the underground conduit to the garage. I believe that the fixture on the garage needs to be power from the panel in the garage, and you just run a switch loop back to the house.
I just wanted to confirm that the power should be coming from the detached structure, so I comply with the single point of disconnect rule. I am currently reading over the single point of disconnect rule in the NEC, but am having trouble finding the switch loop exemption.
