How high do you want them?

We usually install them at 44" to the bottom of the box, same height as our counter-top receptacles.

I've seen them as low as 40" to the bottom, while others were up high, along the lines of 54" or more.

Certain handicapped units may have other requirements, such as 36" or so.

Depends on the situation.

If you are looking for a Code reference, there isn't any ... :whistling2:

As far as I know there is no rule in the code. I normally place the top of the electrical box 48 1/2" from the top plate (in new construction) so that when the drywall'ers put up the drywall they only have to cut one piece for the box. As far as adding an old work box anywhere in the 45 -48" range (from the floor) is usually a comfortable height.

Junction Boxes

I'm adding a couple of lights to our bathroom. The switches for both light will be in the same box. Since I have complete access I was going to run a wire to both switches from a junction box rather than 1 wire with a pigtail to service both switches. Good idea??? Bad idea???
