Switch controlled receptacle stop working
I have a 3 year old home. In my bedroom, I have a switch that controls the two upper half portions of the receptacles on both sides of my bed. Everything worked fine when I purchased the home. About a year ago I installed a ceiling fan in my bedroom, not long after that installation I realized that my switch controlled receptacles didn't work.
I tested the voltage and get 83 volts. I've completed some troubleshooting. I get 120 volts to the hot side of receptacle when I go from hot to ground. I only get the 83 volts when I go from hot to neutral.
I checked the main circuit breaker that feeds the master bedroom, it is a GFCI circuit that seem to be functioning properly.
Do you think in installing the ceiling fan I misconnected the neutral causing this issue?
If so, should I take down the fan and see if that where my troubles started?
I'm thinking that there is a cause and effect here and I was it.
Any help would be appreciated.
