Switch to control GFCI outlet receptacle

Hello,

I have installed a GFCI receptacle outdoor which connects to the water fountain pump. I need to control this fountain from inside the house, so that do not have to pull out the plug everytime to shut-off the fountain.

My question is, is it ok to install an on/off switch indoor to control the GFCI Receptacle. Does the code permit. If not, what options do I have? I live in Ontario, Canada.

Your help would be appreciated.

Yes, that is fine.

Be aware, some GFCI receptacles reset to the "Tripped" position when the power goes off (or you turn the switch off). You need to make sure that you aren't using one of these, or else you would have to go press the RESET button every time you turn the switch ON.

Proby,

Thanks for your response.

I do have a similar connection in our back yard and it works fine. The one I want to install is in the front.

Thanks once again.
