Stranded wire in breaker?

DangerMouse's computer isn't working well, so I'm asking this question for him.

The whip he bought for the water heater has red, green, black of course. But the wires are stranded, not solid.

Will this pass code, screwing stranded wire into a breaker?

Or should he run the old (that was already on there) orange cable through the conduit tube and re-use that?

DM says thanks.

Barb

Stranded is fine.

The panel box is fed by a stranded wire.
