Most, if not all manufacturers of breakers recommend that a breaker be manually cycled annually. They do get stiff from non-use and have been known to not function properly because of this.

The comparison with TNT on this link is misleading since an explosion releases the energy very quickly, which means there is much higher power, not energy, in an explosion of TNT.

Most people are shocked to find out that their gas tank has way more energy in it than a massive 500 pound military bomb.
