Stand by generator help

I have a Sentury-Pro (Modle # SP95-LP) stand by generator for the house and ever since my wise brother in law tryed to charge the battery with a car (and he reversed the negative and positive on the generator side) i have been getting a "Generator Voltage Fault" error light on the message center. Any suggestions on where to start troubleshooting? I have 14.6 volts at the battery and 14.6 volts at the starter Solenoid. I attached the schematic to this post. Thank you for the help
