Square D QO vs Seimens Panel

What is the better route to go for a sub panel, any advantage to either?

Square D QO vs Seimens Panel

I had a square D QOas my main panel
So for subs I also bought a Square D QO
Easier to swap breakers between panels if needed

Square D QO vs Seimens Panel

I look at the cost and availability of circuit breakers.

These days AFCI's, GFCI's, and a whole house surge protector which would take up a double breaker slot.

So your local stores may stock everything for one brand, and not much for the other.

Or they may fully stock everything for both brands, but one brand is less expensive.

It is nice to need a certain breaker and be able to go to the store and they have it in stock!

Square D QO vs Seimens Panel

Square D is chosen by more professionals than any other electrical panel. Both are of good quality.

However, one is a Cadillac and the other a Ford Focus.

Square D QO vs Seimens Panel

I think it depends on what type of Square D it is.

The QO is generally considered top of the line, while the Homeline is somewhere in the middle.

Square D QO are usually the most expensive panels and breakers, but in nearly 20 years of installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical equipment, (a lot of it in 'highly abusive' environments) I've found that you pretty much get what you pay for.

I don't have a lot of experience with Siemens resi panels and breakers, but the ones I've installed seem to be pretty well-built.

When I built my house 12 years ago, I chose Square D QO.

internally the SQ-D QO and Homeline are identical except for the orange visa-trip in the QO breakers so i was told by a square-d rep at supply house a few years back at open house.i always use Homeline for residential jobs

The Square D QO has a lifetime warranty.
The Homeline Square D only has a 5 Yr. Warranty.

I have a Homeline in my house for the last 5-6 yrs works as designed no problems.

Square D QO vs Seimens Panel

I don't have any issue with SqD QO series and HOM series both been good to me so far asthe Seimens series they been good products as well.

As far for SqD products the QO is pretty much top of the line for both resdentail and commercal useage and HOM is pretty common used in remodel and new construction so both series are good useage.

And easy to find common breakers as need to.

Merci,Marc
