Splitting a 14-3 wire

I would venture to say that the 14/3 is comming from a 3-way switch. Turn the switch back on and the red will go hot again.

Splitting a 14-3 wire

Hey thanks for all your help and patience walden and others, after climbing through the attic i found that the 3 wire drops down to a switch before coming back up and dropping down the wall I am working on. After 10yrs of the wall not being there, I didnt think of the red hot originally being controlled by a switch. stupid mistake that i should have figured out 5 hours ago. thanks anyway guys!
