Splicing of direct bury aluminum cable
I will be tearing down my lake cabin and building a year around house. My detached garage power is a service lateral from the house meter with 2-4-2 aluminum. My power company no longer allows meters to be attached to the dwelling and they place a meter socket a minimum of 50' from the structure. My problem is that the garage service lateral cable will not reach the new meter - it will be 20 feet short. I've been looking to see what is available to do a direct bury splice but I haven't found much. GB has a splice but the catalog says it is for copper. Grainger shows an epoxy kit that is used with a splice but it looks like each kit is enough for one splice and the kit is $35.
What else is out there for splicing or will I have to dig up the cable all the way back to the garage and lay new cable? I'm just looking for the easiest way.
