Question

Splicing cable to move power points

I am contemplating relocating some electrical outlets and switches in my home, but the existing cable will not be long enough. Is there a safe way to splice an extra length of cable to the existing cable? I need to run about 3 feet extra.

THanks for any help. Dave

Dave

Any spices should be done inside a junction box. You may consider leaving the outlet in it's present location and running a new line from the box to your desired location. You can the use the outlet box for your junction for the new length of cable. Or put in new box with a blank cover to act as your junction location.
