Question

splicing alum. wiring with copper

I want to add on to 14 gauge alum wire. Since it is thicker than copper 14 , should I use 12 gauge copper wire to extend it.

splicing alum. wiring with copper

Twelve gauge AL was the smallest size used on 15 amp circuits. You can splice #14 copper to this using a listed connection like the Alumi-conn from King.
