Sparking switch


That is not n AFCI breaker by any chance? An aching switch can trip these breakers.

Sparking switch


It might not hurt to replace the switch anyways. You did something wrong and caused it to close across the power, which damages the contacts.

I took it back and got a new one and it is working fine.
