Some basic electrical questions for reno

Ok,

On the light switch does it matter if the source is on the bottom or top terminal? I have seen diagrams where it goes to the bottom terminal but I have wired them the other way...

Other thing is wiring a Dishwasher. I am going to run a new line, and I know putting it into a plug allows me to move the dishwasher for maintenance...but I was thinking of just direct wiring it. I have normal 14/2 house wiring I am using for the lights and outlets...can I direct wire this under the dishwasher and connect it to the terminal, or do I have to use a protected cable or something else?

Would you put a GFCI on the Dishwasher plug if you used a plug in method?

Thanks!

Does not matter on the switch. Direct wiring DW is done all the time. No to the GFCI for a DW.

The advantage to a plug on the DW is that you have a ready-access disconnect. If you unplug the DW you _know_ there's no power to it. If you flip the breaker then there's no power to it until someone flips it back -- _hopefully_ with your knowledge.
