Snoc garden light not working

I have seven Snoc lights in the garden. They take a MR16 bulb 20W 12V halogen bulb (same as my kitchen ceiling) and plug into a standard 120v electrical receptacle. A new bulb didn't work in the Snoc socket (the bulb was good as I put it somewhere else on the circuit and it worked). Is there a way I can use a multimeter to troubleshoot the socket wiring seeing as how it's not the bulb that is at fault?

Where is the transformer? At each head or one in the beginning of the circuit?

It's on the wall (exterior) near the outlet.

Im not familiar with these lights, but are they daisy chained together or do you you run them back as home runs?

Im guessing the socket failed by the way... MR-16s run hot, and If the connections are not solid, they self detsruct.

More info: The transformer that runs this circuit, with the failing light, has 2 other successfully lit lights. So, i'm thinking the socket or the line somewhere has failed. I
wonder can I detect the source of the problem with my multimeter?

just check for power at the socket, if thats a no go, then follow the wire back looking for the damaged section or bad splice.

would i look for 12 v at the socket (seeing as how presumably the transformer takes 120v and takes it down to 12 v AC?
