Smoke Detector Wiring.

As a part of my basement renovation I am installing Hardwired smoke detectors. I'd like to know can I tap the signal line of one sd to feed multiple others? In other words instead of going sd to sd, can I connect the signal lines of two upstairs sd's to the last one downstairs?

If I'm understanding you correctly there is no difference where you tap as long as they are all connected together.

Smoke Detector Wiring.

You need to run 14/3 (minimum depending on what size conductor is feeding them) from one sd to the next. The red wire will be hooked up as the signal wire from one to the next
