Size wire for Dryer

I need to know the correct size to use to come from the breaker box to the dryer. Also what is the recommended size breaker that this should have for the 220 dryer.

Typical residential dryer in the US requires 10/3 w/ ground, a 30A double pole breaker and a 14-30 (4 prong) receptacle.

Read your installation instructions carefully for the differences in 3 and 4 wire connections. New installations require 4 wires H-H-N-Grd like you will have with 10/3 G as househelper stated. A new dryer may likely come with the dryer configured for a 3 wire connection. Follow the instructions on how to remove the frame bond to the neutral terminal to convert to a 4 wire connection if necessary
