Shower light

I am considering moving an existing box in the middle of the bathroom over the shower to install a shower light. Before I do this, is there anything special I need to take into consideration? I have installed ceiling fixtures before but not over a shower. Thanks.

If moving the box requies a splice, it must be in an accessible junction box. The box and fixture over the shower must be rated for installion in wet areas. Don't forget the permit.

I believe it has to be gfci protected also.

Nope. Not unless the manufacturer requires it.

Actually it only needs to be rated for damp locations unless subjected to shower spray.
