actually he called an "etension chord"
and unless its for one of the weird cables it should be standard
I only have one, wife uses it as most of the USB ports are on the back of the PC. And the mini tower is on the floor

I think I tried soldering a small gauge wire years ago
Didn't work out so well

then what is the question?

Now, if it had a USB connector on only one end, it would be a conversion cable (or adapter cable or whatever you like to call it) ans we are back to a different ballgame.

Hold it. This all started when you said something about special cables and proprietary designs and everything. You can't just turn around and start agreeing with me. How do you think that makes me look?

Although nothing is a sure bet with computers there are 4 wires used red ,white green and black.sometimes two black the ground. strip the wires 3/4 inch each ,slide on shrink tubing twist or solder together matching colors use heat gun to shrink the tubing and you should be up and running. Sollution 2 contact Cables to go online www.cablestogo.com or try http://www.zytrax.com/tech/pc/serial.html
