It's funny you should ask about the closet. Two places you can't have a panel in a residence is a bathroom, and a linen closet. A closet in a bathroom would be a double whammy! You may have to have an electrician turn the panels around to face the other direction, if that is possible, or relocate them entirely.

Service Panel Question???

Funny thing is I was looking at a house where there was a service panel in the downstairs bathroom, right across from the shower!!! There was maybe 3 feet from the edge of the tub to the panel. It screamed DIY!!! (the bathroom of course)

Yeah, don't put a panel in a bathroom, and most certainly, don't build a bathroom around a panel!

If you have an old house and the panel was inspected at the time it was installed and passed. It is still legal UNLESS you sell the house, Or have to do a service change.
