Service Panel Question

Hello,
I have an old screw in fuss panel that I want to update to a circuit breaker panel. The sheet on the panel door said it is 100 amps serivice but the main pull out fuss has 2 60 amps fusses. The wire comming from the pole all the way to the fuss panel is #3 wire which is for 100 amps. Is it ok to get a panel with a 100 amp main breaker?
Thanks
Matt

If it's #3 copper, you'll need to go to 100 amps.

The code lists #3 @ 110 amps AND they list it in 240.6 as a "standard breaker" but I've never seen one:eek:

Don't do like me and melt the wires from the pole to the house.

100 amp wires in the mast but smaller wires coming from the pole.
POCO changed the wires for no cost. The guy said they should have been larger.

Just googled it and they do make them. Still have never actually seen one.:whistling2:

Thank you guys for the help. I had a tree cut down last year and when they were cutting it, it fell and hit the wire comming rom the pole and ripped my mask and meter base from the house. They put a new box meter base in (the old one was round) and in know the wire is #3 copper all the way to the pole to the panel.
