Service line tree hugger

When the local utility connected a new service next door, they routed the service line to that house directly up against the trunk of a large pecan tree, deflecting the line about 6". Some of the bark on the tree is being lifted off where it's touching it. Question is, isn't that against the NEC code unless they have a protective sheathing added over the portion of the line that's touching the tree?

Thanks

The utility does not follow the NEC. But what you have described is a safety issue. Have you contacted the utility. Or better yet the commission.

Thanks J.V.
I will contact them and let them know. They left the neutral leg off of my house during this install too, so I'll be pointing out to them the lack of attention on this entire job.

Thanks

Good Luck.

Did the utility use one of it's own crews for this, or did they use a subcontractor?

The POCO here uses subcontractors at times, and the level of training for them can be somewhat.... uneven.
