separating ground/neutral
Got a general question on this.
My home was built in the early 1980s and has a 200A service, GOULD panel. I've read and been told that 1- There must be a separate ground and neutral 2- then, in following hte above, all the ground connections should be on one side bar 2b. all the Neutral on the other side bar Did the code changed in this aspect? My house was done by a licensed electrician and inspected etc. Is this really all wrong? OR did the code change? If the code changed, does this mean now that ANY changes made have to bring this all up to code? (in which case, I'm moving :) |
If this is in your service panel the neutrals and grounds can be on eh same buss. If there is a means of disconnect outside between the meter and this panel the neutrals and grounds should be separated. In this case you would have 4 wires coming into the panel.
