sealing compound?!

mmhendrie Member   Join Date: Mar 2009 Posts: 89	sealing compound?! putting an outside light fixture (under a car port). Purchased a waterproof junction box - it says to put sealing compound on the threads of the stoppers i'm sealing up. What is sealing compound? Is this the same as the white cream used in plumbing? is teflon tape ok for this? thanks! -Matt
