There is no distance requirement as many people believe. I always use an EGC with sealtight. Check NEC article 350 for specifics.

The lenght limit usually applies to comercial uses.....as in how from say a motor to the conduit. The typical seems to be 3' or less. A lot has to do with what they call the 'unsupported' length.

One of the few limits concerns hot tubs.
Answers based on the National Electrical Code. Local amendments may apply. Check with your local building officials.
