SAm light in ground pool trips 15 amp breaker
Pool light was not working and I found the GFCI was tripped and would not reset. I replaced the GFCI and the switch, installed weather tight covers. Light worked for a week then quit. Checked the pool light, it had water in it but worked then tripped the GFCI. I could reset the GFCI and it would hold but when light was turned on it tripped the 15 amp breaker. I removed the light, dried and replaced the color wheel motor as that is where the water got to. It keeps throwing the breaker even out of the pool? Where to go from here?

SAm light in ground pool trips 15 amp breaker
You have a short somewhere. What happens if you just leave it out of the water, and plug in on your workbench, or in your garage? Does it trip either the gfci or breaker in there? If it does, try replacing with a new light unit. Also, does the gfci or breaker trip when the light is not plugged into the circuit?
The reason the gfci is tripping, is because it is telling you that there is a problem, and saving people's lives. When the breaker trips, that tells you that there is a direct short, and even if the gfci did not trip, you now have another issue somewhere.
