Running a wire through the wall

Is there an acceptable way to run a power cord into an equipment closet located directly behind the tv mounted on a wall. With the newest LCDs it is nearly impossible to mount the unit on a wall with the available close mounts with out sharply bending the power cord even when using a recessed outlet. It also does not allow powering from a source (receiver) that senses the tv is on or off.

There is an existing pass through for component cables and other HDMI cables and a recessed outlet that works fine with the old tv. The new tv mounts nearly flush with the wall causing a problem with the power cord. Any ideas will be appreciated.
