Running a new bathroom circuit

I'm running a circuit in my bathroom as of now i have 12/2 wire and a 20amp breaker I connected the first run from breaker to GFI then went to switch, from switch to light. However everytime I flip the switch on the breaker trips, i went through a series of trouble shooting but still have the problem, any advice would be awesome.

How did you wire the switch?

The switch should only have the black wires connected to it (one hot from the receptacle, the other switched to the light). The two white wires should be connected together. If you connected a white to the switch, you have created a dead short.
