Depends on what you plan to power in your garage...subpanel or branch circuit?

Satellite/cable, big screen tv, refrigerator large enough to hold 3 cases of beer and be capable of maintaining 35 degrees, leather recliners, and no more than 6' from a grill.

No seriously, your question is way too vague. Need to look at some of the stickys to see which one is closest to your application.

PS Sorry, I thought there was a sticky on Stubbie's diagrams showing stuff like that but, I don't see it anymore

Sorry I decided to remove them there was just too much liabilty if they were misused according to my legal advisor.. and the host site that I was storing them on went down.

I can still at my discretion post drawings and I may on this thread.

Thanks for your useless input, but to give proper advise, more specific info is needed

The wire has to be deep enough or high enough. Use conductors, a panel, breakers, ground rods and wire.

1st as a homeowner you will need to pay a fee and get a permit to perform the work from your building codes office. That permit will last for a set number of days in my area. If you are not up on 120/240 volt wiring and the necessary tools needed this may not be something you should attempt as a first project.

The 'rules' are actually electrical codes. I would suggest searching 'detached garage' on this forum and you should get enough information to answer the majority of your questions.
