Rope light made of LED's

Are LED's connected parallel or series to assemble a rope light? What are the specs of the LED's to be bought if Im going to connect it on 220VAC?

They are usually strings of series leds, all connectted in parallel.
so its a series / parrallel combination.
As for the ratings of the leds,
they are all different, with reguards to light output.
As for voltages most leds operate on simular voltages,
depending on color, usually 2.2v to 3.5v.
so you will have to experiment a bit,
to find out which leds to use,
but if you are really keen they are fixable.
if you have the time.
parts are easily available.
