Question

Rim around lighting fixture fell off. HELP

I have recessed lighting in my ceiling. There is a plastic rim thing around each bulb (It's technical name is a "trim ring") somehow attaches to a thin metal part of the lighting fixture (the baffel?). The rim fell off, and I am unsure of how to re-attach it. I have tried many methods, but none have worked out. An image of a similar fixture can be found at the link below:

Any help would be appreciated.

there should be some springs that attach to the both the housing and the "trim ring" the springs allow you to attach both ( with no bulb screwed in)

be sure the power is shut off to the fixture before attempting work on it. From the circuit breaker.

If it fell off then it may be the wrong trim ring. There's two differant types.
One with two springs and one with two wires that pull it tight to the ceiling.
