Is this the right type of light?

Here's a picture of my house. I want to install a light where the red arrow points.

Here's the product I want to use.

Will this work? Thanks.

I think the challenge are two things:

1. I assume the light is motion sensor... you have to check if it allow to be sit at such high attitude to detect motion below... but most likely the answer is yes.

2. so if 1. is yes, the next challenge is to have weather proof wiring to that location... this means thouse water proof plastic pipes and...etc. and you need to think about how to mount the light there securily..

so the answer to me is YES...

Points of note:

1. With adjustable photo control, this is a dusk to dawn operating light.

2. Even when operated from a switch, this fixture is not instant-on, requires 2-3 minutes to ignite. Momentary power interruption results in 2-3 minute restart.

3. Operating cost ~ $6/month (10hr./day, $0.10/KWhr)

4. 22,000 Sq. ft. illumination - neighbors may receive unwanted light.

Thank you for your reply.

My house is deep in a long lot. I think I'll be OK with regards to the neighbors.

So photo control means that it'll turn on when it senses no sunlight?

Finally, do you know if this will produce a yellow, orange or white light?

Thanks again.

Yes, it is intended that the fixture always receive power.

Being Mercury Vapor, this fixture produces a blue-white light.

Also check out High Pressure Sodium Vapor, you will get the same illumination from a 100W fixture (more energy efficient), these fixtures produce an orange-pink light (a warmer light, but tends to make everything look beige).

How close is the neghbor across the right hand fence line. The light will not stop at the fence.

How about a motion sensor light that will only com on when motion is detected? Mount it on the eve area of the house.
