Rewire house

How much would it cost to rewire at 1000 square feet house?

k_buz 05-21-2012 09:21 AM

How much you got?

electures 05-21-2012 10:36 AM

$10,000.00 plus travel.

  1. Is it conduit or romex?
  2. Can the electrician open up ceilings and walls and leave them for you to repair?
  3. Are your walls and ceilings drywall or plaster?
  4. How many lights?
  5. How many switches?
  6. How many receptacles?
  7. How many electrical loads (oven, A/C, pumps, etc)?
  8. Will you replace your electrical panel? (you should)
  9. Will you upgrade the size of the service?
  10. What is the going rate for electricians in your area?
Or you could just call in some electrical contractors and get quotes.

THIS IS YOUR ANSWER. It's the ONLY correct one.

The way the OP is worded is like asking "How much to rebuild a car engine?"

You guys are both wrong. It should be $10,234.45 after tax. Go ahead and hire someone to do it, if he says the price is different, just tell'im CoconutPete from The Internet told you it should be $10,234.45

NO! In NYS this type of work qualifies as capital improvement. No tax charged, but you need to fill out an ST-124 form. $10,100
So there!:tt2:

I just realized - tell the contractor that Speedy Petey and CoconutPete both from the InterWebz said what the price should be - they are guaranteed to honor it then!

I'm friends with a lot of contractors - trust me - they LOVE it when you say "but I read on the internet it should only cost this much"
