Reuse electrical box with punchouts removed
I just removed two punchouts in a box, realized that they won't work where I need them, is the box junk or can I just use the other punchouts and leave the original ones open?

The unused openings need to be closed (110.12(A)). You should be able to find an "oops plug" to fit the KO's.

The box isn't junk. You can still use it, but I highly recommend you don't leave the holes open. Inexpensive knockout fillers are available that snap in to the holes to close them. It is a code requirement that unused holes be sealed.

Are they available for romex tabs or just the half inchers?

I've never seen them for Romex tabs, just round holes from 1/2" up.

Thanks, that pretty much answers my question. If anyone knows if they exist for romex knock outs as well, let us know.

Ok, if your talking about the little black push buttons, just take the button back out and use a "push Penny".

For lack of a better description, it looks like a plug. It has a flat surface, and little feet that connect into the knockout hole. Any Lowe's, Home Depot or supply house should have one.

He means a knockout seal.
I have never heard the terms "oops plug" or "push penny" either. Not even online.

I have heard the plastic ones called a push peeny, but the metal ones were always called KO seals.
