Hi,

I plan to renovate my kitchen and thinking to replace my almost 25y. old electical range (whirpool) with a cooktop and wall oven. Ideally, I want oven to be mounted in the different spot. Do I need another circuit (a new wire from circuit breaker panel) or can I just supply both new cooktop and wall oven from the same existing outlet i.e use longer cable for oven from it's new place). Current range uses 40A breaker and a larger 4 wire plug (just like shown here)

Thanks,
Aniva

You generally need a new circuit. Most ovens and cooktops specify that they require a dedicated circuit with a specific breaker rating.
